This is a self-study e-Course that encompasses video recordings of the Tattva Sandarbha classes by Satyanarayana Dasa Babaji that took place in the Jiva Institute (Vrndavan) and was part of the entire Bhakti Tirtha study curriculum of 2016-2017. It consists if 204 lessons and enables one to study at the desired pace.
Śrī Tattva Sandarbha is part of if the Six Sandarbhas, or Ṣat-Sandarbhas. Penned by Śrī Jīva Goswāmī, the Ṣat-Sandarbhas has six (sat) parts each delving into a different aspect of the Bhāgavatam philosophy. The first part, entitled Tattva Sandarbha – introduces the basic, fundamental truths of the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava school.
Of the Six Sandarbhas, Tattva Sandarbha is the smallest in size, but not in importance. As its name suggests, it discusses the Reality (tattva) that is the ultimate subject to be understood and realized. Tattva also means “essence,” and thus Tattva Sandarbha provides the essence of what is to be elaborated upon in the rest of the Sandarbhas. Thus, it serves as an introduction to them.
It may be said that Tattva Sandarbha lays the foundation for entry into the subject matter of Bhāgavata Purāṇa, a detailed analysis of which follows in the rest of the Sandarbhas. It does so particularly by providing the epistemological viewing frame through which Bhagavān is directly intuited, devotionally served, and established ultimately as the supreme object of divine love.
You have to have a clear definition of your goal – what do I want? What am I heading for? You have to have a very clear definition of what is Bhakti. If you are not clear, then you can remain in a hazy field for a long time. That is the significance of Nyaya. It gives clear definitions, which is very important. Otherwise you may think that this is the definition of Bhakti and I am doing Bhakti, but what you may be doing may not fit the definition.
